Since 2007, Razoo has been trusted for our easy, simple, and secure Nonprofit Fundraising platform. However, we also have a wonderful and upgraded (early 2016) Personal Fundraising option! Personal Fundraisers on Razoo allow people to raise money for any cause, and all collected donations go to the fundraiser's bank account using Stripe, our payment processor. Personal Fundraisers can be used to raise money for anything— from medical expenses and memorials to neighborhood cleanup and school projects. You can fundraiser for whatever matters to you!
Before you start your Personal Fundraiser, develop a clear story, intent, and goal behind your cause or need. Donors want to give when they can easily see how you will use their donation to make a difference.
Once you have your goal in mind, get started and create your Personal Fundraising page on Razoo.
Our step-by-step wizard will walk you through how to set-up your page. Be sure to create a compelling story by using all of Razoo's available tools, including text, images, and videos. The final step in creating a Personal Fundraiser will be to set up your bank information with the third party processing system, Stripe.
What is Stripe?
Stripe is a payment processing system that allows people, companies, and organizations, to create an account linked directly to their U.S. bank account. The Razoo system links your Personal Fundraiser and Stripe account, allowing donations to be deposited into your bank account.
With your Stripe account, you can check on your account, manage donations you have received, and even refund a donation as needed.
Donating to a Personal Fundraiser
Donors can give using a credit card and will automatically receive a Razoo receipt with their donation information. Donations given to a Personal Fundraiser are not inherently recognized by the IRS as a tax-deductible contribution. If all or a portion of the donation is tax-deductible, the fundraiser creator/organizer must communicate that information to the donors. For any questions on the tax-deductibility of contributions, we encourage you to consult an accountant or tax advisor.
If a donor has created a Razoo user account, their donation(s) will be visible in their giving history and giving statements (which is helpful if they forgot the specific causes they supported). Donors will see the name and contact from the Stripe account on their credit card statement.
Personal Fundraiser creators also have access to their fundraiser donation history and basic donor information in the "Reports" on their page.
Common Questions about Personal Fundraising
- What is the cost or price for a Personal Fundraiser?
- The transaction rate is 7.9% + $0.30 per donation.
- When can I expect my donations to show up in my Stripe account?
- Once a donation is successfully processed, it is passed along to Stripe to manage disbursing into your bank account. Per Stripe,
Stripe will transfer funds to your bank account based on the schedule listed in your dashboard. For example, “Daily — 7 day rolling basis” would mean that charges processed on March 1st would be grouped together and deposited in your account on or around March 8th. A “Weekly (Monday) — 2 business day rolling basis” would mean that charges processed before a given Thursday will be grouped together and deposited in your account on the following Monday.
Your transfer schedule can be configured to simplify your accounting. Stripe has offered the options for funds to be transferred daily, weekly (on a custom day of the week), or monthly (on a custom day of the month).
- Are donations made to my Personal Fundraiser tax-deductible?
- No - Personal Fundraising is not usually for a charity so the donation is not inherently tax-deductible. If all or a portion of it is tax-deductible, it will be up to the creator/organizer to communicate that information to the donors.
- How can I refund a Personal donation?
- In your Stripe account, you will be able to manage donations and refund them if needed.
